3.14.11
Hey again!
As always, I hope this week's e-mail finds each of you happy and well. Things have been going very well here in Rockwall. Transfer calls were made Saturday night, and while I get to stay here for a minute, I've been called as the new District Leader. My zone is being hacked apart with transfers so things will be crazy here for a little bit. We are getting 2 brand new zone leaders and most of the companionships are experiencing a transfer of one of the missionaries. I'm a little nervous about the new responsibility, but I'm confident in my ability to accomplish whatever the Lord places before me as long as I rely on His strength and support.
Elder Layton and I are having a lot of fun getting to know each other. It's crazy how many connections we both have in this area. I've met a family from Hesperia, one who lived in Moreno Valley, and there is a young couple here with the last name Lyman(I'll get more information on who his parents are and such whenever I get the chance). I would guess that he's only a few generations distant at the most, because he told me that he comes from Platte D. and his family lives in San Juan county still. The family that lived in Hesperia hasn't been back there for a long time, so they don't know any mutual friends, but the Family who lived in Moreno Valley were in Bishop Clark's ward. We talked about some of the people there and they were interested to know how Nick Meecham was doing. They had only heard about his accident after they moved and didn't know if he had recovered or not. Their names are the Angelos. Sister Angelo is having a tumor removed Tuesday and we had the opportunity to assist in giving her a blessing on Sunday.
We've been doing a lot of finding, trying to get the area up to speed with a larger teaching pool. We haven't seen much success yet, but it's only a matter of time before our diligence bears fruit. We have a few investigators at the moment who are on the verge of progressing quickly, but there seems to be a lack of motivation among our investigators. We are constantly praying for help to know how to motivate them and help them understand the importance of the Restored Gospel. This week will be a pretty big make or break week with one or two of them, so we'll see how things pan out. Fingers crossed!
I don't have any word on whether or not Rosa was baptized as planned. I'm a little concerned by not seeing her name on the weekly standards e-mail. I hope nothing happened. I'll see what I can find out this week.
I'm not sure if I included this in past e-mails or not, but I found out a while back that Kelly Christensen(as in Bishop Christensen's daughter from Blanding) is serving in the Texas Dallas Mission. She's serving very close to me at the moment so I've seen her a few times since being transferred here. I've seen her at other large meetings as well. She is a Spanish speaking missionary and she got to the mission field just as I hit 6 months, which means she will go home before I do, accounting for her time spent in the MTC.
I think that about exhausts my list of things to report this week, but I hope you all are doing well. I love you very much and I continue to pray for your safety and success as you each strive to exercise your agency righteously. Thank you all for your many prayers and thoughts in my behalf. I look forward to hearing more from you all very soon! Until next time; be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!
Love,
Elder Michael P. Lyman
Texas Dallas Mission
