Hello again everyone!
As you may have heard, there has been some crazy weather in Texas as of late, and could be more in the near future. I'm not sure on the details but I know that a tropical storm hit us this past week. Up here in the North Dallas area we only caught the edges of it, so we got 2 days of really heavy rain. Day one was pretty interesting to say the least. Elder Clayton and I were not prepared for the sudden downpour. We emptied our backpacks and put our planners in plastic bags and headed out into the rain. Tracting was actually pretty fun once we accepted the fact that we wouldn't be dry until we got home. And we weren't. Day 2 I convinced Elder Clayton that umbrellas would be a wise investment. He concurred and we ran over to Walgreens before tracting. This time we were dry... mostly. Our shoes were still literally filled with water, but everything else was relatively dry! The days since have been warm and very humid, but not as hot as when I arrived. We will see how the weather goes this week!
A lot of our teaching appointments last week punched, so I don't have much to report that way. We did a LOT of tracting... We did however start teaching a new investigator who is pretty much golden. She is a member invitation from a neighboring stake and we taught the first lesson. The spirit was very strong in the lesson. We were short on time because she had to get up very early in the morning, so we centered our lesson around the Book of Mormon and we simply bore testimony of the restoration. Since she won't be able to attend church this weekend because of her crazy work schedule she actually asked us to give her whatever literature we could so she could absorb as much information as possible. She has a definite thirst for the truth and it is awesome to see as the spirit works on her.
We anticipate a lot of finding this week, because the mission has a goal of 950 baptisms for the year. As part of that goal, we had a mission-wide fast yesterday, and this week the entire mission has committed to contacting 20 people per companionship per day.
There seems to be all kinds of news from all kinds of places today. I love each of you and I continually pray for you all. I pray that each of you will continue to exercise your agency righteously, truly being examples of believers in all that you do. I know that as we do so we are blessed in countless ways, some of which we cant' always see in the immediate sense. Remember that trials are merely the Lord's expression of His trust in us. He loves us more than we can imagine and is always mindful of us. He wants us to be happy and successful, and he wants to help. I pray that each of us will allow him to do so. I am ever greatful for your prayers and support and I look forward to hearing more from each of you. Until next time; be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!
Love,
Elder Michael P. Lyman
