Well this week went by in a rather fast and furious fashion! Elder Layton and I have been incredibly busy incorporating the additional ward into our work. The coordinating effort is nearly complete and our new schedules with the respective wards in regards to meals and member splits. The Heath Ward is great. The members have shown us an exceptionally warm welcome. The investigators in the Heath Ward are great too. We are looking forward to setting some baptismal dates there VERY soon.
Our schedule this week unfortunately didn't end up including a whole lot of opportunities to teach many investigators. We ended up teaching a few great lessons Sunday night, but the rest of the week was filled with tracting(which didn't turn up many good leads), and dropping by members and investigators in the Heath Ward.
Our work was slowed for a couple days because of our mode of transportation this week. Our allotted miles were eaten up quickly last month very early. The training by Elder Oaks and Elder Rasband was a little bit of a drive away, and we had to save the last bit of our miles to get there and back. This meant Elder Layton and I got to make use of our bikes on Thursday and Friday. Elder Layton didn't like it at all... but I didn't mind it. It was actually quite a refreshing change in pace for me. The weather was beautiful and the riding was quite comfortable.
The meeting on Saturday was without a doubt my highlight for the week. Getting to meet Elder Oaks and Elder Rasband was a real gem of an experience. Elder Layton and I got there early enough that we had the best seats in the chapel. Both Elder Oaks and Elder Rasband delivered very powerful messages. The spirit was very strong in the meeting. I walked away from the training being spiritually filled and with a new fiery vigor for the work. I received a very special witness of the reality of the calling of the apostles and general authorities. I know that I learned, at least for a short time, at the feet of an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I am so grateful for the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love this great message that we bring to others. Nowhere else can one find genuine peace and unfeigned joy, everlasting. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is in fact the Lord's kingdom once again established on the earth. We are led by a prophet of God, sent by a loving Heavenly Father for the blessing of His children and for the fulfilling of His work and His glory. I thank my Heavenly Father constantly for the incredible opportunity I have to devote myself fully for this short time to serving Him and His children. If you are reading this it is probably because the Lord placed you somewhere along my path to help afford me this sacred period of time in my young life. For that and for you I am eternally thankful. I love you and I pray for you frequently. May the Lord bless each of you as you move forward with Faith in Jesus Christ, repenting daily of your weaknesses and shortcomings and making use of His infinite Atonement. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. It is through Him and only through Him that we may realize our potential in returning to live with Him, experiencing as He does, a fullness of joy.
I love you all very much and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Until next time, as always; be good, stay safe and keep the faith!
Love,
Elder Michael P. Lyman
