February 20, 2012

2-20-12

Hey everyone,

I hope you all had a happy and safe week! Let's jump right into the action shall we? Elder Petty and I had another great week! We are seeing lots of success and loving ever minute of our busy schedule!
Amanda had her interview and is all set for her baptism on Saturday. She is very excited and we can't wait either. She has asked me to perform the baptism and Elder Petty to perform the confirmation. I've seen many investigators baptized, but this will be my first time actually performing the ordinance. What an honor!
We were able to contact most of our referrals and one of them came to church. Her name is Linda. Linda is such a neat person. She lived in Salt Lake several years ago and met with the missionaries then. She's been to Temple Square and speaks about it as one of the most touching experiences of her life. She has a powerful testimony of prayer and of our Savior's love. She expressed in our first meeting that she feels like everything in her life has led her to become a member of the Church. We will be setting a baptismal date with her this week.
Soany is still doing well and comes to church every week. She is really having some struggles in her family life, but has a great desire to be baptized. We had a wonderful, Spirit-filled meeting with her this week and helped her understand exactly what she needs to do in order to be prepared for baptism. She had it in her mind that it was much more complicated than it actually is. My companion and I each testified of the peace that the companionship of the Holy Ghost would bring into her life if she takes the step of faith. She told us that she knew what we were saying was true, and she is now praying about a specific baptismal date.
This week looks like it is going to be even busier than the last two. We have a baptism to coordinate and we are taking every spare minute we have to go out and find more people to teach so we don't fall into any more slumps!
Thank you so much for all your prayers and love. The support of loved ones means more to me than you will ever know. I will continue to pray for the safety and happiness of each and every one of you. My testimony of this work burns within me. I know that my Redeemer lives. I know I have been called by a prophet of God to represent Him in this specific place at this specific time. I am so unbelievably grateful for this opportunity I have to be in the service of the Lord full time. I wish it would never end! I can't wait to tell you more about the success we are and will continue to have in the coming weeks! Until next time; be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!

Much Love,
Elder Michael P. Lyman
