Hey y'all!
Elder Petty and I had a great week! We were very busy even though we had to audible several times during the week due to last minute cancellations. Of course, Amanda's baptism was a fantastic cap to a stellar week!
This past week the mission had a visit from Elder Kevin R. Duncan of the First Quorum of the Seventy. He toured the mission and trained in the zone conferences. Our conference was such a powerful experience. He spoke about the Doctrine of Christ and how it relates to the Missionary purpose. He also gave great training on the principle of love as it pertains to motivating us to do and be better. I came away from the meeting with a lot of things to improve upon, and many things to study further on my own.
We received about 10 referrals in the last week from various sources. This week we will be very busy teaching our amazing investigators who are progressing nicely, and contacting the received referrals. We've got our work cut out for us this week for sure! Our teaching pool is filling up quickly. It's amazing what a diligent effort to find those who are prepared will do. Even though we haven't really FOUND anyone on our own, the Lord has blessed us with people to teach because of our willingness to work.
On Sunday we had a mother and son come to church for the first time. Their names are Veronica and Steven. Steven is my age. They both seemed to really enjoy the experience and they are looking forward to coming back next week. We have been teaching them twice a week and they are really receptive to the Gospel. We should be extending a baptismal invitation very very soon.
Soany cancelled this week, so we didn't get to see her until Sunday, but she is still doing well. She's still having a hard time with her family life, but she's improving all the time. The Gospel is really changing her. We also hope to set a baptismal date with her this week.
On Saturday, Amanda was baptized. Her baptism was combined with an 8 year old baptism and it was pretty well attended. I had the opportunity to perform the ordinance for the first time and it was a great experience. Elder Petty confirmed her a member of the Church on Sunday. The ward seems to really be very welcoming to her. We're happy to see Amanda join such a great Ward family because she really needs friends in her life who can love and support her.
I hope you all have a fantastic week. Thank you as always for all your love and support. Your prayers sustain me daily. I love you and I hope to hear all about what's going on for all of you soon! Until next time; be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!
Love,
Elder Michael P. Lyman
