2.7.11

Hey again y'all,

This week was absolutely nuts! I hope you all had a less stressful week than I did. The weather was very cold the first part of the week. The ice storm set the stage for several inches of snow to stick for the better part of the week. Luckily this weekend it warmed up enough to melt everything, but the snow made life interesting as a bike missionary. Actually, getting to the library today was the first time I've used my bike yet in this area. Texans are a little weak when it comes to snow and ice. Elder Low and I spent a lot of time walking and laughing to ourselves about the ridiculously poor drivers in the icy conditions.
Yesterday was the Dallas Stake conference. Actually it was a regional broadcast from Salt Lake which was recieved by Stakes in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The conference was outstanding. We had the opportunity to hear from Elder Martin K. Jensen of the Seventy, Sister Ann M. Dibbs(President Monson's daughter) of the YW Gen. Pres., Elder M. Russel Ballard, and our beloved Prophet President Monson! Elder Jensen spoke about the connection between knowing and doing. Sister Dibbs spoke about living virtuously. Elder Ballard spoke about keeping the Doctrine of Christ simple. President Monson gave a wonderful talk on going to the rescue, which as always, was filled with beautifully illustrative stories.
We haven't heard from Nate or Rosa this week because Nate has been crazy busy with the Super Bowl. We did however get to teach our 10 year old friend Aaron. We taught him the Plan of Salvation and he seemed to be very receptive. He's a really smart kid and I think he is beginning to trust me. His self esteem is very low and I try to be his buddy whenever I see him. He loves Legos so I've got an easy discussion topic with him! He's a really awesome kid. I can't wait to see him get baptized.
I love you all very much and you are constantly in my prayers. I can't wait to hear more from each of you very soon. Until next time; be good, stay safe and keep the faith!

Love,

Elder Michael P. Lyman
