1.10.11

Hello from "icy" Grand Prairie y'all!

The weather has been pretty downright cold here in the Dallas area. The temperature doesn't get ridiculously low but it just cuts you to the bone! It's fun though. Yesterday and today have brought some snow to the area. I don't know about the rest of the greater Dallas area but I here in Grand Prairie we've gotten quite a bit. The snow will sit on the ground about a half inch at a time for a few hours, then melt. The humidity doesn't allow it to stick very long unless it gets super cold. Elder Low has been pretty disappointed by all the melting snow. He won't shut up about all the snow they must be getting in Cardston(as Canadian as he is, I love him to death.) As a result of the "dangerous" condition of the roads(more like the dangerous condition of the Texas drivers...) our cars have been grounded for the past 48 hours or so. It's been tough to get to all of our appointments on time, having scheduled them with our car in mind, but the members have been extremely kind and helpful in getting us where we need to go.
I got word that both Mo and David were baptized and confirmed as scheduled. I was very very excited to get that news! I also received word that David's mom is now being taught(I'm not surprised, David is an absolute stud). Elder McNinch sounds like he's doing great out east. I'm glad to see he's taking good care of my friends out in Longview.
This past week has been full of tons of hard work and even more blessings(funny how that works isn't it?). Elder Low and I taught a ton of lessons this week and found a few new investigators that we are very excited about. We've got a lot of appointments this week so hopefully I'll have much to report in coming letters! I'm so excited about the work here in Grand Prairie. Our teaching pool has gone from being empty to being so deep you could go swimming in it(if it weren't against the rules in the white handbook of course...)!
I'm stoked beyond belief for Ben to enter the MTC and get into the mission field. Ben: I love you so much and I'm so proud to call you my little(big ;)) brother. I know you're going to be a phenomenal missionary. Be obedient and baptize the [heck] outta those Spaniards! I love you.
I love you all very much and I pray for your continued safety and well-being every day. Thank you again for all you do both seen and unseen on my behalf. I can't wait to hear more from each of you. Until next time; be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!
Love,
Elder Michael P. Lyman
