April 23, 2012

Hey everyone,

Where did this week go!? Elder Mitchell and I are working our little hinies off here in Allen. Our 3 wards are absolutely awesome. Things have been a little slow as far as teaching goes this past week, but we have done a LOT of service and getting to know the members and their non-member friends. We did get to see our main progressing investigators, but there is some definite turnover going on as a result of this double-transfer of sorts. The pace and direction of the work is changing a little because of varied styles as compared to the previous missionaries, but things look really promising here. All three wards should start seeing a lot of success very quickly if they can follow through with the plans they have set the past couple weeks. Can't wait to see what happens!
Nicole is doing well and is on track for her May 5 baptism. Her parents still are not supportive, but she's doing everything she can to foster trust. We're still praying hard that their hearts will be softened.
I'm not sure if I told you about Rebecca already, but she is a 17 y/o girl who was tracted out by the missionaries in the other area in Allen. We've taught her twice now, the last visit being in the Bishop's home. Our lesson went really well and she's very very open. She is the only Christian in her family, and has only recently become so. She loves her church but has expressed that she wants more if it's out there. She is reading the Book of Mormon regularly and praying. She says she feels good about it all and sees no difference in the way the Book of Mormon and the Bible make her feel. We will be having another lesson with her on Saturday at the Bishop's home again. We should be setting a baptismal date with her then.
Heather is not doing so well. She came to church on Sunday, but has gone completely cold with respect to the missionaries. She's so close, so we're hoping and praying that she'll come around so we can get back into her home to teach her.
Although covering three wards means eight hours of church each Sunday, I still really appreciate the opportunity to sit and reflect through three sacrament meetings each week. The opportunity to receive personal revelation in those meetings is priceless and I get three times the norm. What a blessing!
This week Elder Mitchell and I will be going to see a ton of part-member families in hopes to begin teaching some (or all) of them. There are a bunch of them in these wards. This week will be lots and lots of really hard work, so I'm excited. Lots of good things happening!
I love you all very much and I look forward to hearing from y'all soon. Until next time; be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!

Love,
Elder Michael P. Lyman
