Hey y'all,
I am so very glad to be over the crud. This week was kind of long and somewhat grueling but it always feels good at the end of the week knowing you've got nothing left because you gave it all to the work. The temperature is rising and the humidity is keeping up with it. This week, North Texas was the hottest place to be in the continental United States. Temperatures were in the 90s with the humidity staying between 50% - 90%. This week we are supposed to get some rain so hopefully it will be cooler. I'm not ready for the summer yet!
No real updates with any of our main investigators. Nicole came to church as always, we're still working on helping her come through with a baptismal date. She is loving church though.
I never thought I'd say that I love getting to go to 8 hours of church every week! I have come to appreciate the Sacrament so much more through learning about the meaning of the Ordinance. Going through 3 wards every week can be a little tiring, but I always leave with such a peace and energy about my spirit. What a blessing!
On Saturday evening, one of the members had a 5 de Mayo block party in her home, and invited us to attend. She had a pretty good showing and many of her neighbors came. It was a really cool experience. We were asked a ton of questions and were given the opportunity to bear simple testimony in response to many of the questions. At one point, we even gave an overview of the first lesson and taught a small group about Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, and the restoration of the Gospel. There was one couple in particular that were very very nice. He told us after everyone else had left that he was very impressed by how well we handled being "grilled" the entire party. He has read much of the Book of Mormon and loves our faith. He told me that if I ever wanted to come visit here after my mission, I had a place to stay in their home. Now that's Southern hospitality! He goes by "Top" and is really into riding motorcycles. It sure is easy to keep a gospel conversation going when you know what the other person likes to talk about! I talked to Top for a good 30 minutes after the party. We should be going to their home this week to share a short message and invite them to take the lessons.
I can't believe I only have 2 transfers left! It's pretty amazing to me that time continues to go by so fast. I have a lot I still need to accomplish in the next 12 weeks.
I love you all very much and I continually pray for your well being and happiness. I can't wait to hear from y'all soon! Until next time; be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!
Love,
Elder Michael P. Lyman
