1-9-12

Hey everyone!

This first week in my new area has been SUPER busy. Our schedule is filled with teaching appointments and we receive referrals on a regular basis. We haven't done more than a couple hours of tracting since I've been in the area. I am loving it here in Irving and I'm so excited for the rest of this transfer. My new companion's name is Elder Petty. He is in his 2nd transfer in the mission field and is an absolute stud. When I got here, there were 8 baptisms scheduled. We had a baptism Saturday, and have baptisms scheduled every Saturday for the next 3 weeks. We have at least one more date coming in the next few days as well. I am still gettting to know all of our investigators, but I'll definitely tell you more about them as I learn the details.
Coming to Irving is sort of like coming home because I know so many people here already. A few of the members remember me from my time spent serving on the other side of this district in Grand Prairie. I'm very excited to get to see some past member and investigator friends as I work in my district.
In answer to your question Dad; yes there were many missionaries from the TDM at the BYU bowl game. In fact, most of the mission was there, with the exception of those of us who happened to be serving in East Texas areas at the time. I, of course, was in Athens and was not allowed to attend. The few missionaries who didn't get to attend were allowed to watch the game on TV. I'm very glad my cougars won (despite their best efforts to throw the game away), but it is quite a sore subject and we won't speak of it further...
I'm sorry I don't have more to report, but I will have much more to say when I've gotten a better feel for the area. I love you all and I hope you ahve a wonderful week! Until next time; be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!

Love,

Elder Michael P. Lyman
