Hey Everyone,
I'm Glad to hear that everyone had a happy and safe Halloween! Ours was fairly uneventful. We were asked by President Durrant not to tract, but to try to be as effective as possible. We had a few appointments including dinner, with some Mexican families who don't much care for Halloween, so we didn't prevent them from celebrating.
We had a great week! Of course it’s always a great week when you get to finish it off with a baptism. Jeremy was baptized Saturday the 5th and confirmed Sunday the 6th. The baptismal service was the smoothest I’ve ever been a part of. We had great attendance and Jeremy’s Mother and Sister, who are non-members, were there as well. We had 3 investigators to church on Sunday which is a new personal best.
My birthday was a lot of fun. Thanks for all the birthday wishes! There is a brother in the ward who has the same birthday as I do and he invited us to come celebrate with his family and friends. We had cake and ice cream, then played a couple games before Elder Guerrero and I headed to an appointment that evening.
We didn’t find any new investigators this week, which is a little frustrating for me. We do, however, have a neat finding opportunity in the works. I’ve wanted to try this for a long time and am finally putting the plans into action. The plan is to set up booths at the busiest place in town, Wal-Mart! We’ll be there offering information for families and individuals and answering questions about the Church. We’ll have all the pamphlets, videos, and pass along cards we offer as well as an opportunity for anyone who would like to, to set up an appointment to learn more. I’ve already checked with the head manager at our local store and she has given me the OK. All we are waiting on is the scheduling manager to get back with us so we can get the ball rolling. I’m really excited to see how it goes and I think it will be a great finding tool. The members are pretty excited it about it as well. They have expressed interest in helping us staff the booths and answer questions.
I love you all and I can’t wait to hear from you again next week! Until next time; Be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!
Love,
Elder Michael P. Lyman
