6-20-11

Hey y'all,

I hope everyone has had a good week! It's been a warm one here in North Texas, and it's getting warmer. Saturday and Sunday it got up to 103 and 104 respectively. We are supposed to have some storms come through Tuesday and Wednesday so hopefully it will cool things down slightly. Saturday we found out that our A/C needs repairing. It's having a hard time keeping the apartment under 80 degrees, especially since we turn it off during the day while we're out. Saturday night was pretty rough, it stayed about 81 all night and we ended up just turning the A/C off altogether because it was blowing uncooled air and wasting energy(our apartment coordinator will be all over my case if we have a high power bill over this...). We should have it fixed today though(fingers crossed). If not, we'll be spending as much time as possible away from the apartment, taking our breaks in air conditioned buildings wherever we can find them... What an adventure!
This week held in store a lot, and I mean a LOT of tracting. It is entirely possible though, that it just felt like more than usual because of the heat and humidity(my greenie is having a pretty rough time adjusting to both. His complaining may have something to do with the perceived eternity spent hitting the pavement.). We set a lot of return appointments and found a lot of potential investigators. We are sifting through them pretty rapidly, but it always feels good to be working hard, meeting new people, and teaching lessons.
Lily's baptism on Saturday went great. Bill came and seemed pretty excited about the whole thing. We are having a hard time helping him understand authority and the need for the Book of Mormon. I think we had a breakthrough with our last lesson, because he admitted that he needs to read, study, and pray about the Book of Mormon to really know if it is from God. He came to church again on Sunday and is forming a lot of friendships with the members of the Heath Ward. We are praying hard that he has the experiences he needs to build a testimony of the restored Gospel.
We also had a new investigator show up at church Sunday. His name is Blake and he's 16 or 17 years old. Blake has been going to scouting activities with the boys in the Rockwall Ward for a while now, and just recently went along for their high adventure. Apparently much time was spent discussing the restoration, including a testimony meeting in which I'm told he bore a very powerful testimony of the Savior. Without any pushing or coaxing, he came to church all on his own and expressed that he will definitely be back. Blake also left with a copy of the Book of Mormon. We are really looking forward to getting to know him and hopefully teaching him very soon.
Well, thank you all for your continued prayers, thoughts, and words of support. I love you all very much and I can't wait to hear more about the exciting things that are happening all around! Until next time; be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!
