Hey everyone!
These past two weeks have flown by! This is probably because Elder Guerrero and I have been extremely busy. Our teaching pool is growing like crazy and the members here are really getting excited about the work! Our top investigators right now are member referrals and part member families.
Our top investigator is probably Chrissy. She is a referral from a sister in the ward who works with her. She is such a cool lady and based on some comments we've had reported to us from others who are around her, it seems like she is excited to be baptized. Her profession is one that makes it difficult for her to get to church, so our challenge is making sure she is fully prepared. We want her to have the opportunity to go to several sacrament meetings before she is baptized. We will be teaching her this week at the member's home and hopefully she will be able to arrange her schedule so we won't have to push her date back any.
Next we have Jeremy. Jeremy's wife has grown up in the church and is recently reactivated since her husband is now willing to check things out. We have taught him a few times and have been to their home for dinner. They are a great couple and we have built a good relationship with them. We are hoping to set a baptismal date with him Tuesday night.
Another one of our top investigators is a 19 year old girl named Shana. Shana rents a small house from a member of the ward and has been attending a family home evening group for the last few weeks. We started teaching her last week and she is really interested in learning more. She has committed to come to church this week and has been reading the Book of Mormon.
As I said, we've been receiving a tremendous amount of support from the members here. Hopefully we can continue to see success so that they can see the rewards from their efforts.
My Spanish is.... well it really isn't. I just got my hands on the basic missionary Spanish Text this week. Hopefully having some more structure in my language studies will help me to see some progress. I've been told by Pres. Durrant that the expectation is not necessarily that I be able to speak Spanish by the time I am removed from a bilingual companionship. The expectation apparently is that I do my best to learn as much as I can in order to understand as much as possible in teaching situations. I'm having a little bit of a hard time relinquishing responsibility for teaching, but sometimes the Lord brings us low so he can lift us higher.
Thank you all for your love and support. I know the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I have seen and felt far too much even in the short period that is my lifetime to deny it. God truly lives and Jesus is, in fact the Christ. We have what we need to be successful in an absolute way. Let us take advantage of this wonderful truth.
I love you all very much and I look forward to being able to share more with you in the coming weeks! Until next time; be good, stay safe, and keep the faith!
Love,
Elder Michael P. Lyman
